With a one-time contribution, you can set up a permanent donor-advised fund. You will receive an immediate tax deduction and can make your own grant decisions to provide assistance for the worthy causes of your choice. Your choices do not have to be made at the time of your contribution, and you can change the recipients annually.

Your contributions to your fund can give you an income tax deduction in the year you made them, subject to AGI limitations. Donations can be make with cash, appreciated stocks, marketable securities, life insurance or other tangible assets. It doesn't take millions, either. As little as $10,000 can get you set up. Usually, contributions of appreciated property can be deducted at the full market value and appreciated assets are free of capital gains taxes.

You choose which assets to donate, the purpose of your fund, whether the fund is restricted or field-of-interest, and where your money goes. You can even change the recipients annually.

For its part, the Omega Foundation puts decades of financial services expertise to work for you. Your funds are invested on a total return basis to maintain and, if possible, increase their purchasing power, while providing a steady level of funding for grant making. Grants are used to financially support not-for-profit organizations that you designate, allowing the organizations to continue to provide their much-needed services well beyond your lifetime, as directed by your heirs or advisers.

Donor-advised funds allow everyday people and organizations to become philanthropists without having to spend excessive amounts of time or possess a great deal of money. These special funds allow you to give back to society some of what you have gained, while enjoying the tax advantages such donations bring.
